When you have a large-scale, multi-site technology solution that needs to be rolled out, often times it requires multiple services at each site. In these instances, work intensity timeframe required for each location is typically short. This means you need a company to deliver equipment, another to install it, yet another for cabling and circuit needs, etc. This causes project costs (not to mention time requirements!) to skyrocket. But there's a better way!
Initially, it's important to understand that the scenario described is a Category 1 Technology Rollout. By definition, a Category 1 consists of short work intensity within a timeframe of 1 day or less at each site. An example of this would be a demarc extension with a router installation at each location. (For more information on categories and technology rollouts, download our white papers.)
The first thing I suggest is to know what to look for from a technology rollout company. And in this case, examination of their Rollout Services Model is critical to ensuring that they have all the services you'll need for every site location. While this can seem quite cumbersome, if the company uses a comprehensive Rollout Services Model as part of their Technology Rollout System, the work will be done for you! The Rollout Services Model defines the company's services by components (for instance, Equipment & Technology or Circuits). This makes it easy for you to determine if the technology rollout company provides the services required for your project.
These components, being part of the overall Rollout Services Model, will be integrated so that the technology rollout company is able to provide all required services in a single truck roll.
Benefits of a Multi-Service Truck Roll
So how does a Rollout Services Model lower costs and time? For starters it eliminates the need for multiple truck rolls. This is the single biggest factor in having the most cost effective technology rollout services for your project. Fewer truck rolls not only means less time required to complete the project, but also less time for you to pay for technician travel, set up, time and effort from each site's point of contact, etc. Thus, benefits include:
- Minimized project costs
- Accelerated deployment speed at every site location
- Service redundancy provided by an individual, multi-service technician
- Reduced time requirements from each location's point of contact
A Complete Rollout Services Model
If you're looking for a complete Rollout Services Model (and you should be!) to provide all the technology rollout services for any project, then make sure that it has each of the following nine components:
Conclusion
Remember if you know the criteria for evaluating a technology rollout company, then you'll be assured that you have chosen the most "cost and time effective" option for your next project.
