We offer four training sections that include the following:
Codes & Standards Courses
National Electrical Code for Telecommunications
This three-day course is designed for industry professionals, electrical inspectors, architects, consulting engineers, and telecommunications contractors who need to be aware of how the NEC affects design and installation of telecommunications. The course is based on the National Fire Protection Association's ANSI/NFPA 70 reference manual.
National Electrical Safety Code
A two-day course that offers industry professionals, electrical inspectors, architects, consulting engineers, and telecommunications contractors a head's up approach on how the NESC affects aerial, underground and direct-buried telecommunications outside plant design and installation. It is based on ANSI/IEEE C-2.
Telecommunications Administration (as per ANSI/TIA/EIA 606-A)
This two-day course is for the telecommunications professional that designs or installs telecommunications infrastructure. The ANSI/TIA/EIA 606-A standard has replaced the existing standard and further identifies the methodologies required to properly manage the infrastructure for inside plant and outside plant. The changes with 606-A significantly changes the concepts of Telecommunications Administration. As a telecommunications professional, you should be intricately aware of these changes.
Telecommunications Safety: Inside and Outside Plant
This two-day course provides instruction on the principals of safety, development of a company safety plan, implementation of the safety plan and training of employees in all aspects of safety as it relates to both inside and outside plant installation and construction.

Installation Courses
Customer Owned Outside Plant Installation
This five-day course will instruct outside plant technicians in the proper procedures in the installation of aerial, underground and direct-buried physical plant systems. This course will include the placement of copper and optical fiber cable plant on poles, in underground conduit systems and in a direct buried plant system. Emphasis will be placed on the application of construction methods and procedures for the building of all types of customer owned outside plant systems.
Optical Fiber Connectorization and Splicing
This three-day course is for the technician who wants to become proficient on the installation of various manufacturers' optical fiber connectors and splicing methods. Methods include epoxy, UV cured, convection over cured and anaerobic cured connectors. Splices include both mechanical and fusion. On completion of the course, you will be certified by 3M on the Hot Melt Connector, the VF45 Volition connector and the CrimpLok splice. The course includes all consumables and connectors.
Outside Plant Copper Splicing
This three-day course will teach you how to splice using either the 3M MS2 copper splicing unit or the 700 Series copper splicing unit. This will include installing underground/buried closures, above ground closures/pedestals and fire retardant closures. Emphasis will be placed on splice arrangement, use of hardware with various splice cases and splicing technology for a minimum of Category 3 performance and a maximum of Category 5 performance in outside plant.
Outside Plant Optical Fiber Splicing
This course will teach you how to splice optical fiber cable using both mechanical and fusion splicing techniques. You will receive instruction in the installation of 3M's FiberLok System and other manufacturer's mechanical splices as well as understand the use of the automated fusion splicer. This course is two days and includes all consumables.
Outside Plant Splicing
This comprehensive five-day course provides instruction in both copper and optical fiber splicing. It provides comprehensive hands-on experience that leads to proficiency in both regiments of splicing. On satisfactory completion of the course, you will be certified by 3M on copper splicing techniques and optical fiber splicing techniques.

Managing Telecommunications Projects (A Course for IT Professionals)
This introductory two-day course in project management is aimed at the telecommunications manager and IT professionals. You will learn the basic concepts of bringing a telecommunications project in on time, under budget and meeting specifications. You will be taught to use basic project management tools such as Pert/CPM, Gantt charts and Earned Value Costs Management.
Outside Plant Project Management Workshop (TMPA Certification)
This three-day course was developed for outside plant project managers. Working in a team-based environment, this program focuses on aerial, underground and buried projects involving copper/fiber outside plant infrastructure. The course prepares you to successfully sit for the Telecommunications Project Management Association's certification examination as a Certified Outside Plant Project Manager.
Project management for the Smaller Telecommunications Contractor
This two-day course explains basic project management as it relates to telecommunications installations. You will be instructed on how to prepare a project plan, critical path charts, resources, material list, and labor units. It culminates in the tracking of the project from beginning to completion and acceptance.
Telecommunications Project Management Workshop (TPMA Certification)
This three-day course includes the preparation of a project plan for medium to large telecommunications projects. The course prepares you to successfully sit for the Telecommunications Project Management Association's certification examination as a Certified Project Manager. You will work in teams to:
- Develop a Scope of Work
- Develop an Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS)
- Develop a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Pert/CPM, Gantt charts, Earned Value Cost Tracking, Quality Plan, Safety Plan
- Learn to Conduct Negotiations
- Use Microsoft Project to Assist in Training Goals
Wireless Project Management Workshop (TMPA Certification)
This three-day course is designed for project managers specializing in wireless technology. By working in teams to develop a project plan, this program focuses on the construction of wireless networks such as Personal Communications Systems (PCS), Cellular telephone networks, microwave networks, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and Wireless PBX/LANs. The course prepares you to successfully sit for the Telecommunications Project Management Association's certification examination as a Certified Wireless Project Manager.
